HOW TO REACH ALMAGRO?
The 9th Young Researchers in Magnetism Conference will take place at the Palacio de los Condes de Valdeparaíso (C. Bernardas, 2, 13270 Almagro, Ciudad Real), in Almagro, a historic town in the province of Ciudad Real, Spain. The organizing committee encourages all participants to travel by public transportation whenever possible, in order to reduce the carbon footprint of the event.
WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND PLANNING YOUR TRIP THOROUGHLY AND IN ADVANCE, AS THE FREQUENCY OF BUSES AND TRAINS TO ALMAGRO MAY BE LIMITED, ESPECIALLY ON WEEKENDS.
By train
The most common way to reach Almagro by public transport is by train. If you are coming from Madrid, Barcelona or Seville, you can travel first to Ciudad Real. Tickets and schedules are available at https://www.renfe.com/es/es. From Madrid, however, there are also some direct trains to Almagro, which may be more comfortable. Note that this is a daily train departing from Atocha-Cercanias.
From Ciudad Real you can either take another train or a bus to complete the journey. If you choose the train, combined tickets are available on the Renfe website (instead of buying them separately).
Upon arrival at Almagro train station, you will have a short walk of around fifteen minutes to reach the conference venue. Alternatively, taxis are available by calling: +34 608 320 750, +34 926 261 309 or +34 601 058 993. Booking the taxi in advance is required and it has a fixed price of ten euros.
If you are travelling in groups, you might be interested in booking a taxi from Ciudad to Almagro. This service is provided by the same company, using the phone numbers above, for a fixed price. This service also needs to be booked in advance.
By bus
Traveling by bus is also possible, although you will need to reach the Ciudad Real bus station first (Ctra Fuensanta s/n, 13004 Ciudad Real). From the train station this is about a 26-minute walk, or you can take bus line 1B from the stop located at the roundabout opposite the station. Tickets to Almagro cost around three euros and can be purchased online at https://grupointerbus.com/ or directly at the station.
The bus to Almagro stops at C/ El Ejido de Calatrava, s/n. From there it is only nine-minute on foot at the Palace. If you prefer, you can also book a taxi from the stop using the same contact numbers listed above.
By Car
While public transportation is recommended, we recognize that in some cases—especially when shared—traveling by car may be a more practical or economical choice. Almagro is well connected by road, and the fastest route from Madrid is usually along the A-4 (Autovía del Sur) followed by the CM-45 (Autovía del IV Centenario). We recommend using Google Maps to confirm the best route from your departure point. Free parking is generally available close to the venue, particularly near the Parador hotel and the surrounding streets.
Additionally, you can find a map of the town with some public parking lots and monument at https://www.almagro.es/turismo/informacion/mapa-turistico.
